This year, it's back and bigger than ever.
Now called the Great American Outdoor Show, it stretches over nearly a million square feet in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. It's also under new management the National Rifle Association. But that doesn't mean the show is just about guns, says Todd Boyer, who enjoys hunting and came to the show from nearby York, Pa.
"It's not just hunting; it's not just fishing," Boyer says. "It's recreational shooting, it's hunting, it's fishing everything's included."

(6,185 posts)They unilaterally decided to ban the most popular selling rifles in the US and all the accessory sellers from "their" show?
Then ... everybody dropped out, including archery, camping stuff, RVs, pretty much everyone dumped on it, even those with no firearms ax to grind.
Now the show is twice the size it used to be with an anticipated 100,000 attendance for the week.
So a nice sympathy card to the Reed people in the UK might be appropriate.

(15,396 posts)Used to work around Harrisburg a bunch in my service engineer days.
Fishing season is upon us so it's time to shift from hunting to fishing and target shooting time.

(6,185 posts)He's been looking for a 1911 and this is the place where he can test drive pretty much everyone made.
He also hunts whitetail in the mountains there, above the Susquehanna with a recurve bow and muzzle loader so he'll have a good time at the show.
I heard it was pretty crowded though, even for a weekday.
More proof I guess that; "the tide has turned" and, "the NRA is dying, they just don't know it yet" according to our "friends" in another time and space continuum. .

This last is the "Gun Control Tide Turns Against The NRA..." OP
For some reason the author of that OP quit posting here at GC&RKBA
shortly after shall-issue CCW became law in Illinois.
Wonder why that is?

(6,185 posts)When laughed at about it repeatedly, he claimed that he was just being "humorous".
I guess what sounded cute and insightful in the local coffee shop or faculty lounge, didn't hold up well to any form of scrutiny.
Haven't seen much humor from them since.
In fact ... since they got their safe haven haven't seen much of them here or there?
I also noticed that our local "Cut & Paste-No Comment Needed" artiste has had some posts locked lately.
Is there a set number of locks before they get banned for awhile, or do they have to be hidden too?

(68,644 posts)I wouldn't post in GD, but if someone did I'd have post replies, and I'd post replies in this group too.
The contrast in the messaging between the two signs is, I think, worthy of discussion.

(18,318 posts)Since the topic is broached, I have noticed a tendency for revenge sociopaths to employ shotguns of late. I wonder if this is because of take-down portability, or "ignorance" in gun use ("anyone can use a shotgun" , better availability as the generation buying semi-auto rifles are more apt to secure $1,000+ rifles than the Fudds their bottom-of-the-boat pump scatterguns, or legal age restrictions. Maybe it's economic: Even formerly upper middle class murdering sociopaths can't get their first choices, and go for a $200 used pump.
Clearly, puts a dent in the AWB argument.
