Arizona bill for guns in public places fails again

The Arizona Senate narrowly rejected conservative-championed legislation Monday that would have allowed those with legal concealed weapons permits to bring their guns into public buildings.

The bill is a measure that drew a governor's veto three times in recent years.

The 14-15 vote on House Bill 2320 on Monday spares Gov. Doug Ducey from having to weigh in on an issue that has seemed a litmus test for support of gun rights in Arizona.

(snip)

The bill would let Arizona's more than 230,000 concealed-carry holders bring their firearms into public buildings that include courts, libraries and city and county offices, unless the building owners meet the bill's security requirements.

1. I saw some dolphins body surfing today. Very cool, they go and they have fun!

Before the sun was officially up, I returned to my front door after walking little Millie and, always checking the ocean, saw a couple dolphins and ONE of them jumping completely out of the water.

Never saw that before, it and others were heading south toward the bigger waves where surfers go.

Once inside, we looked out and there were many others out there, uncharacteristically loitering just beyond the breakers, nose toward the beach.

And then we saw that they were waiting for waves to ride! We saw two and tree going together in the larger waves that break further out.

I'm certain that the one that jumped out did so out of excitement about going over to body surf the waves.

None of them were carrying guns.

That's illegal in these parts.

2. If the state issues CCW permits--which I think they all should, in a shall-issue manner--then

I disagree that public spaces should be off-limits as a general thing. Unless there's a specific and valid reason to the contrary, the permit should be valid in all public areas. (Private establishments should be allowed to set their own rules, of course...)

but the state does issue permits for those that want them for reciprocity with other states.
Not too worried about it, it'll pass next time.

It's odd that they somehow decide your life isn't worth protecting in a public building.

My GMC keeps flashing a Code 42. Damned electronic spark control makes it feel Iike I'm dragging around dolphins.
