Do gun control aficionados exist?

This is a question that's been bothering me for a long time. Many of us probably know gun guys or gals who enjoy firearms and have extensive knowledge of the subject and associated regulations. Heck, there are quite a few regulars here that fit the description. I wouldn't pass myself off as an expert on the subject, but I do know a fair amount.

With that said, are there equivalent individuals on the gun control side of the debate? People that have their own unique nuanced arguments about gun control that we don't hear everyday. As an example, I'd like to meet someone who advocates for the use of hollow point ammunition in civilian carry arms vs FMJ or similar as a public safety issue. That's just a made up example, but do you understand what I'm saying? Someone that believes AR-15 rifles should be banned, but their more powerful AR-10 counterparts should continue to legal and could engage in a civil debate as to why they believe that to be a worthwhile public safety endeavor.

I'm not suggesting I would agree with technically nuanced gun control proposals, but I would like to move past the usual gun control talking points like "F the NRA, ammosexuals/gun humpers, etc. The name calling doesn't teach us anything about the other side and gets stale.

militia members? The answer is never. Prior to 2008, the U.S. wasn't a gun control paradise.

Go right ahead. Everything it takes to repeal it is right there in the Constitution in clear, unambiguous terms.

2/3 majorities in both houses of Congress, 3/4 of the states to ratify the repeal within the deadlines.

So you best get off the couch and get those petitions started. Be sure and keep us posted on how it's going.

But perhaps you meant to have somebody else actually do all the "heavy lifting" for you, so you can sit on the couch and type furiously about how incensed you are, then celebrate when the first of the Bill of Rights amendments is repealed ?

Or are you just another lazy gun control fan that's all talk and no action?

8. Another "big fan" of repeal, as long as they don't have to actually do anything.

But "by Cracky" (a little Gabby Hayes there for all of us), if somebody else will circulate the hundreds of thousands of petitions, get the millions of verified signatures and go to every state and every town hall meeting, lobby all the thousands of legislators at the Federal and state level for all 50 states repeatedly.

They'll have to push for passage day and night and not mind having the Dems lose many, many state and federal seats, to make the poster happier. I'm sure they have that level of long term commitment.

Then when they realize how much is involved they fall back on that old, lazy punch line; "Well, we really just need one more liberal judge to interpret it correctly."

Mouthing off online is easy, getting anything actually done in the real world takes grass roots infrastructure and hard work and none of them seem too terribly interested in that part.

In fact, I don't think living in the USA is scary at all.

The second is interpreted as an individual right by both the party platform and Pres. Obama, so I don't understand what "perverted interpretation" you are talking about.

The current interpretation (Heller, McDonald) is entirely in line with the framer's intent.
