What's new in the world of gun control?

With so many state legislatures out of session, I must admit I turned my attention away from gun politics for a few months this summer. It felt good. I spent a lot of time out fishing. Despite what you may have heard, the bite around here this blazing hot summer was pretty good. I spent most of my free time fishing for catfish or panfish (crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, etc.). Nice and relaxing.

What's new in the world of gun control? I see Missouri went green recently, kudos to those folks. Anything else? Any new gun control memes or strategies starting to emerge? I see a few folks are still stuck on the no due process, no buy scam.

...nothing. Control is a myth. Laws and regulations only serve as controls for those able and motivated to lend their own self-control to the task.

AFAIK the grabnutz have nothing new. See: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/grasp_at_straws

trying to get a law passed similar to the one that was approved in Washington state a while back, calling for universal background checks. Among other insanity, it criminalizes the transfer of a shotgun to your BFF today for them to take shooting 2 days from now on the weekend, unless you get a background check done on him/her first. The true irony is that even if you do get a check done, when you take it back from them after the weekend is done you would need to have a background check done on YOU in order to legally have your own gun back.

Link to the initiative, so you can see for yourself just how intrusive this is:

http://nvsos.gov/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=3440

This is stupidity of the highest order. For one thing, unless you have a registry showing who owns what, you can't tell for certain who a gun belongs to. For another, this law will do zip.shit to stop criminals from getting guns, as they don't seem to care if they break the law while getting their dick-skinners on a weapon.

We have seen a couple cases where a transfer was made without the Universal Background Check but was fully supported by gun control proponents. The requirement is that you make the transfer with "good intentions", then the check is not necessary.

These transfers were made by people who state they are anti-gun but I'm sure if you loan a shotgun to your BFF without the legally mandated check I'm sure you will receive equally vehement support.

thank god i live CA. giving blowjob to bff is perfectly legal, as it should be. gun laws should be the same.

if nothing else it allows people like me to defend ourselves.
