The Government v Anarchy spectrum

The problem with anarchy is that a majority can with impunity violate the rights of an individual or a minority.
The problem with government is that a majority can with impunity violate the rights of an individual or a minority.
The only good answer is a balance.

The one and only sound basis for government is a strong foundation in individual rights. Laws are the criteria we use to convict the guilty of crimes. Rights are the criteria we use to judge a law. Laws that do not protect rights are probably not a good idea.

The RKBA guards the right of self-defense. How is this not simple?

If you aren't allowed to speak freely by the government, and any other redresses are then ignored/denied by an oppressive government, what is the last solution? Taxed without representation? Jailed with no charges, without representation, for years and years?

Right now, we still have the ability to peacefully protest. Peacefully. If others think violent protest is now called for, well, I think they are a little ahead of the program. Using violence now, with other, peaceful options still available, makes the violent protests look bad, and won't bring the admiration of the public.
