Gun store bill aimed for Gov. Browns desk

Legislation aimed at protecting gun stores against brazen burglars is headed to the governor’s desk.

For the second year in a row, state Sen. Jerry Hill has authored a bill seeking to enhance requirements for how guns are stored in an effort to ward off thieves.

Hill, D-San Mateo, said his most recent legislation was inspired by a local constituent who raised concerns after a string of burglaries involved suspects using vehicles to ram into gun stores and steal weapons.

“Illegally stolen firearms almost always fall into the hands of criminals,” Hill said. “Obviously when someone steals or breaks into a gun store they’re not doing it because they want to use the gun for hunting. They’re taking the guns and will sell them or use them in crimes.”

Is there such a thing as legally stolen firearms

Having a list of choices for gun stores to secure the firearms during hours closed for business does not seem unreasonable.

(ahem) When the .gov outlaws something without a grandfather clause, and demands it be disposed of. Or, weapons confiscated from an individual without probable cause (see VA/SS). (ahem)
