Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumMore on the Kansas City Stadium Shooting
The Kansas City Star has a follow up in the story we posted last week in which I rightly guessed that it was domestic violence.Kansas City police identified a 40-year-old man who shot a former girlfriend at Kauffman Stadium on Friday before killing himself as Marcus L. Collins of Raytown.
Collins drove into the stadiums Parking Lot A about 3:20 p.m. Friday and apparently summoned the woman, who was riding a golf cart, to his car. When she approached on foot, he shot at her several times and she tried to run, police said. She was struck at least once in the abdomen.
Collins, who never got out of his car, then shot himself.
Police said Collins had known the woman about 20 years and they recently had begun dating.
Police said the two apparently had a falling-out and had not been speaking lately. They did not have any history of domestic violence, and Fridays shootings shocked relatives on both sides.
You don't suppose anyone would say that domestic violence must take place in the home, do you? We have some pretty argumentative commenters around here, but I think even they can admit this was a case of domestic violence.
Will they also agree that guns are bad news for women? That's the real question.
You see, where there are more guns, more women are killed in domestic violence incidents, and not by a little. The numbers are shocking when we compare high-gun states with low-gun states.
It's just like the difference between intentional homicide in the UK compared to the US. Fewer guns, the murders are 4 times less.
What do you think? Please leave a comment.

(8,142 posts)Three of the four links in your post go to your blog. You told me you weren't doing that anymore. I don't know why you should be anymore truthfull in that than you would be in anything else.

I told the new crowd here that the links you posted lead to your blog. You accused me of "playing loose with the facts" and then said "the first link goes to the original article at ESPN. " So one of the four links you posted was not to your blog. You insinuated in your reply that your links did not go to your blog. You are wrong.

1. Mikey, you're up awefully early, or awefully late...What time is it in Italy?
For those of you that don't know about Mikey's links he posts, they lead to his blog, he won't link directly to the article itself so unless you want to be part of supporting his blog or get slammed with his anti-gun rants, don't click on any of the links.
"Often in these domestic shootings the guy kills the girl and only wounds himself. "
Actually the guy normally kills himself so he doesn't have to answer to his crimes, but of course you knew that.

Yes, you like to play loose with the facts. You like to stretch and twist all in an attempt at personal attacking of the Original Poster, me.
Now, why would you do that? Maybe when you have a shit argument, and you can't win straight up, you resort to tricks and bullshit.

(17,671 posts)are you trying to impress? I have yet to see an original idea from you. Hell, half the time you post a dupe of a Google dump here.

I bet you knocked over a table jumping at the chance to post that link.

There are a number of ways to protect yourself depending on the situation (i.e., leaving, restraining order, prosecution), but when sometimes the situation may call violence against an attacker.
I see we have fundamental difference: It is never to late to protect yourself from violence.
