Homeland Security Officer with Concealed Carry Permit Stopped at Albuquerque Airport

Local news reports with video.

It didn't say she was arrested, so I'm guessin' that flimsy charge will be dropped or plea-bargained away.

I believe it when these people say they just forgot, but what does that say about their responsibility when it comes to safely managing their firearms.

Forget once, lose your right to own guns, that's what I say.

that the sanction ought to fit the 'crime.'

I rarely favor zero-tolerance, 1/2/3 strike, death penalty, or similar sorts of inflexible punishment structures, as they generally produce more problems than they solve, and a greater degree of unfairness than otherwise...

but that's your opinion and in my opinion, you have very little room to criticize me for being uncivil.
Maybe you should be directing your criticisms towards people like Bongbong, who has nothing to add except derision and name calling for gun owners.
My so called uncivil tone is very mild compared to him and others who come here to mock and insult us.

I'm criticizing his blog, not him per se. I'm not going to sit here and argue about this, I have my opinion and you have yours and I had a long hard night, a car accident with 3 fatals, so I'm pretty damned tired and as soon as I have my cuppa tea, I'm going to relax and get some sleep.
Have a good day and will talk later.

Nobody hurt, no DUI, just a fender bender.

Even a minor situation in which nobody is hurt says something about that person's responsibility as a driver.

...and driving is a legal privilege, not a right affirmed by the Constitution.

Instead of causing a hassle for people unlikely to be involved in crime anyway, why not just let them carry in airports and on planes?

too many of the concealed carry permit holders are irresponsible and dangerous. This is because the requirements for getting the permit are too low.

because too many of the concealed carry permit holders are irresponsible and dangerous.

Mike, unlike yourself, an admitted firearm criminal, most CCW permit holders are hardly ever involved in crime - any kind of crime - let alone firearm-related crime.

When you look at the rate of conviction data published by places like Texas, which tracks everything from Public Lewdness to Homicide, the data is clear, people with CCW permits are many times less likely to be involved in crimes than random people from the public at large.

This is because the requirements for getting the permit are too low.

But they don't need to be high, and many states are coming to this realization and doing away with the permit requirement altogether.

Why? Because the only people who are going to bother with the paperwork hassle and expense of getting CCW permits are people with sterling behavior anyway. These people aren't just law-abiding, they are hyper-law-abiding, going out of their way to comply with completely optional laws to engage in a completely optional action. Thugs and criminals aren't going to bogey on down to the sherrif's office for a CCW permit. They're just going to stick their heater in their waistband and be done with it.

It's a statistical fact - people with CCW permits are many times less likely to be involved in any kind of crime than a person picked at random from the population.

You would be statistically many times safer on an airplane filled completely with CCW permit holders than random people of the public.
