Veterans in line for lower tuition

All veterans may be eligible for lower college tuition under a new federal law and a state bill by Assemblyman Rocky Chávez.
The retired Marine colonel’s AB 13 would give veterans access to in-state tuition rates reserved for California residents.
The measure sailed through the Assembly earlier this year, but ran into opposition in the Senate over budget concerns.
Now it has been adjusted to conform with the federal law.
