Sanders is the toast of new coffee roast proceeds donated to the Vermont Veterans Fund

MONTPELIER — A local coffee shop will unveil a version named in honor of Bernie Sanders today, and his beans will be helping veterans.

Capitol Grounds Cafe and Roasters is introducing Bernie’s Beans, a Central American arabica coffee that is slightly darker than a light roast. It will be sold as 1-pound bags of beans and by the cup, with 20 percent of the proceeds donated to the Vermont Veterans Fund.

The shop’s coffee resources manager, Christopher Pyatak, said Wednesday that he approached owner and founder Bob Watson with the idea of dedicating a coffee to Sanders over the summer.

“Bernie represents all of us, and he also represents the hardworking integrity that we value as Vermonters, and he’s maintained that in his campaign, that same honesty and integrity, and that’s something we are really proud of,” he said.

And if this is in Burlington, VT (and I think it is) it helps funds the veterans. From what I know of Bernie, he would absolutely encourage that.
