Need help with transportation back and forth from doctors office
My wife is on her 3rd round of chemo(stage 4 lymphoma). So far I have been able to handle all the transportation needs. But with scans and more doctor OP visits coming up, it is becoming harder and harder to run my business AND do what is MOST important...getting her well again.
Do any of you have suggestions on inexpensive ways to handle my dilemma? It's possible someone may have some experience with this and ideas I haven't thought of yet. Thanks

7. Some insurers cover medical transport.
Try googling "medical transport" in your locale and see what turns up.
Also, in some areas you can dial 411 for information on various kinds of senior services in your area. In my metro area, the public transportation system has door to door service for this kind of transportation, as well. A doctor certifies the need. |

9. Thank you
Our insurance does not cover transportation. I will call our public transportation tomorrow about their "MAP" program.

8. I don't know if you are comfortable revealing your geographic location to other DU'ers, but if
you're OK with that, then maybe asking for help from nearby DU'ers could be an option. I would be happy to volunteer to drive her if you lived in the northern Bay Area of California.

11. You're right, that would be quite a trip. But you might send a shout-out to other DU'ers who
live in AL to see if they have any specific knowledge of resources or maybe, if they live nearby, they might even volunteer to give her a ride. Good luck!

15. Contact the United Way in your local area...
They generally have a data bank of organizations they can refer you to for specific public assistance services you require.
Best wishes to you and your wife and a speedy recovery so things are less hectic and back to normal. :group hug: :love ya: :group hug: |

25. I, too, was getting chemo for stage 4 lymphoma
I was fortunate that the treatments didn't make me sick. So the problem was one of just transportation. If i didn't have a friend or family who could take me to dr or home again, I used Uber. It wasn't particularly cheap but chemo was once every 21 days and I could usually get a ride one way so using Uber once every 21 days wasn't bad. Cancer now in remission and chemo is finished.

local city government and see if they have this service. They take people to Dr. appointments, dialysis, grocery shopping, etc.
