Thought this worth sharing, Black Panthers and BLM

It's likely many of you have already seen this but if not ...

Comparing the 1960s and 1970s Black Panther Party and today’s Black Lives Matter movement reveals parallels and progress.

Stanley Nelson’s recently released film The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution juxtaposes the party’s justice movement against the Black Lives Matter protest campaign.

Conceived about 50 years apart, both Black Lives Matter and the Black Panther Party for Self Defense galvanized frustration with police brutality against black people in the US.

Often mentions the "New Black Panthers" anytime he can squeeze it in. It's bull. There is no way this even exists except in his crazy mind. He wants so badly to have scary black men organized and ready to...ready to....ready to....jeeeze I don't know what?

I was thinking about the 70's today. Those were my high school years. We protested the war. We fought for women's rights and we were in solidarity with oppressed minorities. That big black fist meant something to us all. (Not trying to coopt the movement). But if there was a march, I'd be there.

I am female so I honestly have a claim to feminist ideas so I have walked clients through protesters to the doors of Planned Parenthood in the distant past and helped decorate for a fund raiser in the recent past.

I fully support rights of GLBT even if I'm not. I support veterans and despise the reasons they are sent to war. I support women's equality. And I have always supported my brothers and sisters of color in their plight not to be targets of police brutality.

I believe in the goals of BLM. It has none of the militant feel of the panthers. (Even though I would have joined up if I could have)

reasons they are afraid of the very real Black Lives Matter movement.

Their fear is well founded because it jeopardizes their white privilege.
