The best Mexican food in the country is in Arizona (Tucson) ... actually, Nogales or Douglass (both, border crossings, 60 miles and 75 miles front my driveway, respectively). The food is great and $10.00 will get you 3 full meals ... and a snack!

There's a family in Nogales that has 2 restaurants of the same name less than 1,000 feet apart ... one on the AZ side, the other on the Mexican side. Both, have the exact same menu and prices.

Whenever, I'm down there I eat in the restaurant on the Mexican side ... because they give free shots of tequila!
