Pokanoket Tribe continues land dispute with Tom Perez's new employer

The Pokanoket Tribe, the people of King Phillip, better known as participants in the whitewashed "first Thanksgiving" story, are involved in an ongoing dispute with Brown University over ownership of land that was donated to the university. DNC Chairman Tom Perez just accepted a teaching position at Brown.

The tribe rejected the university's latest proposal as an insult to its sovereignty.
Brown's statement includes this example of white elite's preaching to brown people:
“Unfortunately, the modern Pokanoket group refuses to recognize the connection of the other peoples to the land, and that is something Brown does not find ethical or acceptable as owners and stewards of the Bristol property.”
