What Fiction are you reading this week, Sept. 6, 2020?

I'm still laboring through The Book of Longings. This book does drag on in some places. And of course we all know how it's going to end. I just want to see what the author does with that. Around 150 pages yet to find out.

Still having fun listening to Agatha Raisin mysteries. Just did The Quiche of Death and now I've got The Vicious Vet (as in veteranarian). I suspect that title is a bit of a red herring.

What do you plan to enjoy reading this week?

Speaking of writing, I signed up to write 100 postcards for the election and they arrived Friday. I have got to get going on that but I am worried about my penmanship. It ain't what it used to be. Plus I need to come up with something compelling to say to moms to encourage them to vote. They did send me some suggestions but I would like something a bit more creative or exciting. So, if you have any suggestions, lemme know. TIA!

Love this series and, while the author has a number of awards, I am shocked that she is not a NYT Best Selling author.

Here is a site with October cozy releases! 😍

NOTE: New David Rosenfelt releasing!!!

to read. This bodes well for the brutal winter that The Farmer's Almanac has just predicted for my area. Plenty of reading to curl up with by the fire.

Hopefully, while we watch Joe, Kamala & their Cabinet reassemble our government!

Nancy Coco has a new one coming, too! Not anywhere near the caliber of Joe Grey, but cute & tolerable.

from MomsRising: https://action.momsrising.org/survey/GOTVpostcards_future/

I had an email earlier from someone else who was doing cards but I tossed it since I already have some. I tried to find it but couldn't but if I do find another group doing this I will let you know. Solidarity!

I’ve been wanting to participate in this way as well.

I’m not reading any fiction at the moment...I’ve got to get a reading list compiled...winter is coming! I did get a new tarot deck last week and have been getting familiar with it. That’s relaxing and fun.

Good to see you, hermetic.

Semi-autobiographical stories of a veterinarian in pre-war Yorkshire. It was made into TV series in the 70's and has just been remade - brilliantly. Some of the new series was filmed on the railway here which is what prompted me to dig it out.

Not sure what I'll read next. We've been out buying books - quite a lot of M.C. Beaton - so at the moment I'm spoiled for choice.

A thriller from 1933. A young lady is caught in the middle of a family feud between matrimony and money. If she chooses marriage, she loses a million. But she has a strong will of her own that she's not afraid to use. One way or another, she means to hear wedding bells and cash registers making beautiful music together. Her first move: hire Perry Mason to orchestrate things.

I guess Perry was more than just a lawyer back in the day.

Today, I am reading Down the Darkest Road, book three in the Oak Knoll series.

They are well written and they keep my interest.

In this installment, a sheriff's deputy, a retired FBI profiler and his therapist wife try to help a woman track the man who stole her daughter.

Thanks for the thread, hermetic. Rollins has become just about my favorite author. This, his latest, is another great read... probably my favorite of this year. "In the frozen tundra of Greenland, a group of modern-day researchers stumbles on a shocking find: a medieval ship buried a half-mile below the ice. The ship’s hold contains a collection of even older artifacts—tools of war—dating back to the Bronze Age." It hooked me immediately, and it was a page turner from the beginning.

Love the premise. I'll put that on my list for sure. And I see that one is just out this year so there may be a bit of a wait at the library. Thank goodness I have all the time in the world right now. Sure as hell ain't doing anything else. But I'm not complaining.

Just finished the most recent Joe Grey mystery & went hunting for when a new release might be coming.

Found a FB page stating Shirley Rousseau Murphy is 92 years old & will not be writing anymore.
