When I saw the Stooges shorts as a kid (late 40s, early 50s) the three were always Larry, Moe and Shemp. Curly was before I was old enough to go to the movies. I'm sorry to hear that Shemp Howard is not in the new movie. He was very, very funny.

Back in 1970 Minnie's Boys was a Broadway musical based on their life. Shelley Winters played Minnie their mother. Unfortunately it flopped playing less that 100 performances.

My high school also did Cocoanuts as a play, where my oldest brother played Chico.

Sounds like a great time with your brother. I'm going to look over Duck Soup and see if it's the one I remember, with them on the ship. A Night At The Opera was one of my favorites as well. And when I was a kid Groucho was on television, too.
