1. The great Canadian Goose murder trial

It was admitted that the golfer killed the Canadian goose. The federal government charged him with killing the goose in violation of laws protecting the geese. The feds claimed he was putting, the goose honked throwing him off, and the golfer (I think he was a doctor) clubbed him to death. The golfers defense was that a golf ball accidentally struck the bird and he killed the bird to put it out of its misery. The major factual issue was: was the goose killed with a putter or a driver. Before a verdict was rendered the govt and golfer struck a deal that the golfer would plead guilty to the lesser offense of unlawful possession of a Canadian Wild Goose under the Canadian Wild Goose Migratory Treaty.
