Six British children die in a house fire, parents have been arrested

Has anyone been following this case? My husband happens to be British and my in-laws live there so I keep up as needed, but I'm having trouble with this one. The British press is pretty much prohibited from printing anything out of context and can only print or say what the police have said about the case publicly or what occurred in court. Because of that I really have no clue as to why the parents would pour gasoline downstairs whilst the children were sleeping upstairs. They get out without a scratch and all the children are dead. Thoughts, theories? FYI, the father is a scumbag, husband's words, and after reading up on him I'd have to agree.

BBC Report

The Independent
Mr Philpott, an unemployed father of 17 children, has regularly appeared in television programmes and newspapers as a supposed symbol of Britain's welfare benefits culture.

The Philpott's are aged 55 (him) and 33 (her) they married when she was 16. There were a total of 17 children in the house, only 6 were killed. Mr Philpott was the father of all the children but there were 5 different mothers including his wife Mairead.

She could not have been 16 when they married. I've also seen her age listed as 31, but the oldest boy who survived to get to hospital and later died was not his natural child and he was 13, making her about 18 or 19 when that child was born, if her age is truly 31, older if your age, 33, is correct. And they never had all of the kids he's fathered with all those women living in the house and definitely not at the time of the fire. Anyway, I know the situation about this man but I was hoping to get a discussion going regarding why he or they may have done this. Motive is not articulated by the prosecutor so it will interesting should they go to trial, as it seems they will.

Mick Philpott jailed for life for killing six children, Mairead and Paul Mosley given 17-year sentences

MICK Philpott has been handed a life sentence for killing six children in a Derby house fire - while his wife Mairead and family friend Paul Mosley have been jailed for 17 years.

The trio had been convicted of six counts of manslaughter on Tuesday, following a seven-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

Fucktards. I can't see him surviving prison. Or her either. Other mothers in prison who can't see their children don't like mothers convicted of killing their own children, so I suspect the wife will be in for rather a rough time. They will probably have to isolate her from general population so she doesn't get killed. Also, life for that complete scumbag that is the husband probably doesn't mean his natural life, not with manslaughter convictions. I'm not sure British law allows a whole life tariff for manslaughter, even for six counts of manslaughter for killing his own kids.

There has been nothing more that I could find over the summer since the children's funeral's in June. Except that another person had been arrested and released on bail but of course no name nor why he was arrested, nothing. They do not conduct criminal cases there as they do here. The trial is scheduled for January I believe so I think we will have to wait until then to get more.

This is a couple of weeks old, but there has been a development in this case. Charges have been reduced to manslaughter and a third person has also been charged. Anyway, here is the link:

The parents of six children who died when a fire ripped through their home mouthed 'I love you' to each other today when their murder charges were dropped.

Paul Mosley, 45, of Cecil Street, Derby, who appeared in person, was also charged with the manslaughter of the six children.

Bastards. With manslaughter they won't get life, unfortunately.
