Some sites to check out for writing jobs

These are some that I check out through the week.

Add yours, too, if you have some.

There are a lot of writing jobs out there, you just have to find them.

Love sunoasis...other links on that page, too

http://www.freelancewriting.com/freelance-writing-jobs.php

(This opens with a list of sites where they find listings. Once you click on one of the sites, you'll stay in freelancewriting site, but you can click on the links which will be to the RIGHT of the new page to access all the sites without using your back button )

Jobs for bloggers

So, a few of my faves. Note: some of the online jobs are BS. They are counting on ( out of US ) writers to write REALLY cheaply, and you can tell this when you go to a website with really poor writing that they get what they pay for. Now a lot of content providers are advertising for rewrites! Just as cheap! Oh, well, Writer beware!

Have fun and good luck with your writing...

1. I've had a couple of small but decent jobs on oDesk. Not the $1/500 words kind, either.

Elance also looks promising.

Demand Media says I am unqualified to write on pet health - they prefer people with ZERO veterinary background, I guess.

I can't believe you're "unqualified." That's the most ridiculous thing ever.

I've gotten a few small jobs, too, here and there.

It's amazing how cheaply some people want to pay....

3. Oh, I'm NOT unqualified - the people at Demand Media are incompetent boobs.

I really think they don't know what a veterinarian is.

I just ignore the cheap jobs. Let them hire the hordes in India. They'll get what they pay for, which isn't much.

4. I'm always running into sites that pay dirt cheap wages to writers

It shows.

No one with any education trusts a business that willingly promotes a website written in tortured English. If you cut corners communicating with me about your business to the point that you're making a fool out of yourself, you don't need writers; you need a career change.

I guess some Americans don't even notice the bad syntax and awkward phrasing, but it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I just stop reading after a few sentences and close these sites.

And then I go on the freelance sites and see the jerks begging for rapid rewrites at the same abysmal wage.

5. I got an offer from some clown to "proofread/edit" an article of 400 words or so for some

pittance - I might have agreed to do it, even on the cheap, but........

when I read the original article, it was such a garbled, incomprehensible, word-salad-y mess that I could not discern the actual intent of the writing. I said NO THANKS.
