Report: BoSox demote struggling Bard to minors. What would William Shakespeare think.

Boston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Daniel Bard was demoted to AAA Pawtucket on Tuesday, according to the Boston Globe.

Bard is 5-6 with a 5.24 ERA in 55 innings pitched in 2012. Bard has walked 37 batters compared to only 34 strikeouts and opponents are batting .256 against him.

Bard, in his fourth season, has career record of 10-19 with a 3.37 ERA.

“Just felt the best thing for the organization and Daniel was get in an environment where he could just work on that mechanic and not have to worry about the big league record and his teammates. I think it’ll be a quick turnaround,” Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said.

But he's a solid pitcher and I'm sure they'll get it all worked out. In the end, it will be much ado about nothing.

I don't think he'd be good at either. My understanding is that Bard wants to be a starter, and if he has his shit together, I think he can be one. I'd prefer to see Bard in the pen, but I think he's got the stuff to be a starter.
