Apparently, Jays POS shortstop Yunel Escobar played on the weekend with "Tu Ere Maricon" written into his eyeblack.

10. Here's the thing...

I've never heard this expression in Mexico as a gay slur, but just as a curse word (my husband was called a maricon once by someone we know, and it irritated the hell out of me because it's just not a nice phrase). That said, I'm not Mexican, and there are myriad words/expressions that have double and often triple meanings. Knowing that maricon could be a gay slur should be reason enough never to use it, put it on eye black, etc., unless you're an offensive jackass.
