for the Harbaugh regime to return this franchise to glory. And do you honestly believe Alex could have rallied them back from this kind of 17 point deficit on the road? Should have won by more...49ers dominated 2 1/2-3 of the 4 quarters. Kept blowing opportunities though. There was Akers, Crabtree's fumble..and the bad call on Atlanta's last possession, even after a review, could have cost them the game.

I'm not ready to call Harbaugh a genius. He did an excellent job of coaching last year. And this year he and Roman did a good job of incorporating the option mid-season. But genius wouldn't have tied, and then lost, to the Rams.

No, I don't think Smith could have rallied them.

We're lucky Bowman wasn't called for holding White on the 4th down.

Akers ... wtf?

his missed FGs against the Rams deprived them of a couple more wins but I think they would have finished with the #2 seed anyway. And today was a temporary momentum changer and kept the 49ers behind. Thankfully, the 49ers are a resilient team, but I really don't feel good about the possibility of a SB win riding on his foot..

Condiff was brought in for a tryout, and according to a least one blog he kicked fairly well which was why he was active last week. I guess Harbaugh figured Akers one make against GB was enough since he's now gone. Hard to understand his thinking here because Akers has struggled all year..

I know, maybe he's only a genius with QBs...

7. Yes, the ultimate defeat would be to lose a Super Bowl because of a missed field goal

Don't get me wrong. I think Harbaugh has done a great job as head coach.

Then there is only 1-2 current coaches that are. His football teams always play football the right way. He pounded the rock at Stanford & SF while having a leading passer. Strong defenses, especially at SF. Coordinators do deserve credit of course.

Amazing that Kaepernick starting the season on the bench but is having the best statistical season(not volume stats for obvious reasons) of any QB, I never seen anything like that before.

...... The 49ers were the dominant team, so they'll always hold a certain mystique for me - a (long-suffering) Lions fan.

Still, if Baltimore loses, I'm rooting for San Fran. (And you know how hard that is for an L.A. sports fan.)
