Video removed. I can't stand watching it any more.
The athlete from Texas was airlifted to Grand Junction's St. Mary's Hospital.
"He underwent surgery this morning. It went well, he is currently in ICU with a heart contusion," said Moore spokeswoman Chelsea Lawson. "Doctors are optimistic."
Moore and his brother Colten both crashed on the same jump during Thursday night's snowmobile freestyle finals at Buttermilk ski area. Colten was treated at the hospital for a pelvic injury that will not require surgery, Lawson said.

(17,077 posts)We really need to start drawing a line between "stunts" and "sports". This is Evel Knievel/Joey Chitwood level entertainment.

(22,143 posts)But that's the appeal. They all know full well that the next stunt could be the last stunt. But when they land them it's gold.
Risk is the thrill.

(20,365 posts)ASPEN Freestyle snowmobile athlete Caleb Moore remains in intensive care Sunday with heart problems and now a brain complication after a horrible crash Thursday night in the Winter X Games.
(snip)
As doctors there checked on his concussion, they discovered he was bleeding around the heart and was airlifted to Grand Junction's St. Mary's Hospital.
On Sunday, a family spokeswoman said Moore's injuries now include "a secondary complication involving his brain."
"Caleb continues to be monitored in ICU," Chelsea Lawson told The Denver Post. "His cardiac injury has led to secondary complication involving his brain. The Moore family thanks all of Caleb's fans and friends for their support and for respecting their privacy."

When the family released the statement about his brain complication earlier in the week, they also said that there would be no further statements and asked for respect of their privacy. I knew that wasn't good news.

(7,429 posts)This is horrible. I just watched the whole video and I knew it was coming up and I still jumped. This poor guy just wanted to get that higher score. Yeah I think it's about time to drop this category from X-Games competition.

(20,365 posts)But why do they want snowmobiles in this kind of sport? Have a NASCAR or monster truck thing for them.
