A-Rod possibly out for the season?

Could Alex Rodriguez miss all of the 2013 season recovering from hip surgery? Sure, and during an appearance on WFAN radio Friday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman acknowledged as much.

"Best-case scenario, yeah, he should be back," Cashman said. "Worst-case scenario, he won't be back, or there might be something in between."

Initially, the Yankees had forecast something in between, a six-month recovery period that would have Rodriguez rejoining the Yankees sometime after the All-Star break. But Cashman said the nature of the injury offers few guarantees, meaning that surgery could cost Rodriguez the entire season.

Said Cashman: "I think because (of) the serious nature of the surgery and the condition that he's trying to recover from, you know, there is that chance." ........................(more)

His productivity has been steadily declining, he hasn't managed 150 games for five years, and he's definitely not worth 20 million anymore. Ah, well, happens to the best of us. The Yankees are looking at a pretty lousy year anyway.

I'd like to see him be able to have a good comeback year in 2014, just because it is always a pleasure to watch an old pro flip the bird at Time.

He'll be bumping up against age 39 in 2014 so the chances of a comeback happening are slim. I don't think he'll ever play again.
