Lakers' big win over Oklahoma City is anything but peaceful

Lakers outlast West runner-up, 114-106 in two OTs, with key plays by Kobe Bryant and unlikely stars Jordan Hill, Devin Ebanks. But Metta World Peace is ejected for flagrant foul and faces suspension.

Pau Gasol couldn't stop pounding Kobe Bryant on the back as they embraced after the game.

One, two, three, four times, maybe more, as the Lakers came from 18 points down to eventually beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in double overtime, 114-106, Sunday at Staples Center.

I grew up a fan of Real Madrid and I've never been to Europe. I was not really a basketball fan, but one might logically become a fan of a team when everyone around him/her is a bball maniac. I am generally a NY sports fan, but as I said, I never cared for basketball until I moved to LA...and I now hate the Lakers.

Are you a Laker fan? You're not an Angeleno, iirc.

I also like the Raiders .. even though I live in San Francisco. I also like the Van Couver Canucks. My first Hockey game was in Van Couver with the Canucks vs. The Detroit Redwings. I like the Lakers because my first basketball game was at the Staples Center when I lived in Santa Barbara.

Its true you don't have to care for the teams in your city, however most short timers in city don't generally latch on to a new home town team, unless they liked them in the first place. I used to be a 49ers fan until the owners, The Yorks flipped the bird to the fans and said, "there are better fans in Santa Clara" and intend to build a stadium there.. I hate the Yorks for pissing on the city of San Francisco. I have always liked the Raiders too, since I was a kid.. so I switched to become a full time Raider fan. As, for the Superbowl, I have no dogs in that fight but I wish the team well.. even though I hate the Yorks, with a passion.

I don't get how can someone who has lived in the City of Los Angeles can hate the Lakers, unless you have had a long time hatred of the Lakers. But you said, you never cared about Basketball. If that's case why hate on any baskeball team? If I said I hated The New Zealand ALL Blacks.. but never followed them..that would seem silly to me.

But hey, no harm no foul. Its only sports.

And though I'm the oldest, I ALWAYS had o let her watch the game, even though I wanted to watch hockey.
Bully to that!!! That's why I can't handle Kobe and crew.

its so much better in person. Been to the Staples center and had those 90 dollars seats near center Ice. Watched the Kings play the Canucks.. I got an autographed Jersey from Steve Kariya when he played for the Canucks.. best game ever, and of course they won.

I feel bad about it, but I'm sure you understand. If it's any consolation, you will probably be the first DUer to be banned from the Sports Group. If the Admins don't PPR you on general principles, that is. Well anyways, good luck to you, and we'll see you around the site. Maybe.

I never could understand why so many Lakers fans have been so distraught over their season so far. No, they're not playing their best basketball now, but they already have about 16 championship titles (2nd most in the league). Their fans really shouldn't have too much to complain about. Now when it comes to teams like the Cavaliers who have 0 championships, a superstar (LeBron James) essentially giving the city the middle finger on an ESPN special several years ago, and have a worse record than the Lakers so far this season on top of that, their fans should be the ones raising Hell.
