Giants extend Sabean, Bochy through 2016...

Giants general manager Brian Sabean and manager Bruce Bochy were awarded contract extensions through the 2016 season Thursday, and the man they answer to was clear about why it happened.

“The glory days of the franchise are now,” Giants CEO Larry Baer said. “I think it’s important to acknowledge that and pay tribute to the people who have done it. You take the entire longevity of this franchise -- 131 years -- we probably haven’t had a better stretch than the last three or four years.”

That’s lofty praise, but it’s quite justifiable considering the Giants have won two World Series championships in the past three seasons. Sabean and Bochy previously were signed through 2014.

Obviously, two titles in three years means this is good news for Giants fans. Bochy is widely considered to be among the best, if not the top in game manager in baseball. A player's manager with a low key style. Among other things, he's great at handling the pitchers...and it's shown.

Having both he and Sabean signed through at least 2016, not only guarantees continuity, but gives them plenty of time to turn this mini dynasty into a full scale one. We're truly in a golden age of Giants baseball...
