Aaron Rodgers has fractured left collarbone

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday he has a fractured left collarbone and has no idea yet how long he will be out.

The 2011 NFL MVP offered details of the injury on his weekly radio show on 540-AM ESPN. He got hurt after getting sacked by Shea McClellin on a third-down play during the Packers' first series while he was scrambling outside the pocket. He hurt his left, non-throwing shoulder.

''I do have a fractured collarbone. That's a significant injury,'' Rodgers said. ''We'll know more about the severity and the timetable later this week.''

Rodgers said he was holding out hope he would heal quickly. ''In this case, it was considerably more pain than I've felt in a long time,'' he added.

We'll see how long he's out, but that's the thing with the NFL..one injury to an important player, usually it's the QB, and away goes the season..

1. I know GB fans don't want to hear this, but Aaron is your team...

I wouldn't hold out much hope for the rest of the season.

2. I suppose it depends upon the severity..

but I remember 49ers RB Garrison Hearst broke his collarbone back in the 90's and he only missed something like 4 games.

3. IMHO, four games without Aaron is 4 losses...

Best they can then hope for is about .500

4. Depends on who they're playing.

In this case it's the Eagles, Vikings, Giants, and Lions.

5. I still say 4 losses...

You could argue they'll go 2-2, but I really do think Aaron is the whole team...they lost to a very medicore Chicago team at home.

I like it when the Packers are counted out. That happened in 2011 too.

6. If you're in the playoff hunt at Week 12

you have a chance. That should be the focus. Teams get hot, reach a peak, and can ride that into the Super Bowl.

7. As I stated in another thread, the Packers will be fine.

If you had said last year that Rodgers is the entire team, I'd agree with you...however, last year, they did not have a running game.

You'll see them in the playoffs.

10. Awww...

I am betting on Rodgers being back by Thanksgiving. I think AJ Hawk has really stepped up on defense, and it wasn't a rout by any stretch last night.

(I was sick too, but this season has a very 2011 feeling about it for me)

11. Perhaps..I wouldn't bet against them..

but even if Rodgers only misses 3 games and is back by Thanksgiving, the Packers are already 5-3...if they were to lose 2 of those he misses, a likely possibility considering Seneca Wallace is a career 6-15 as a starter, they're suddenly 6-5 and the playoffs don't look so sure anymore.

12. I'm not worried about it.

I'd be worried if they didn't have a running game, and if they were actually used to wipe the field last night (they were not and damn, McCarthy should have thrown that freaking flag). They do, and they weren't. If it was going to happen, this is the spot in the schedule where I'd want it to happen. It sucks, but there's no reason to hang crepe when the Packers have the first two-headed monster in years...

13. And away goes my Fantasy Football season with it.

After a horrible draft I had managed to cobble together a serviceable (not great) team and strung together a few wins. Realizing that my season hinged on Rodgers anyway, I didn't think a mediocre backup was worth a roster spot (except for Rodgers bye week when I took the NFL's second highest paid QB who threw 5 INT's) so now I'm going to have to scour the wire just to round out a pathetic roster. It looks like Foles or Keenum. Flacco (who is out there again) can go fuck himself. "Elite" my ass!

16. That is the last thing we need ...

We'll take our chances with Seneca. We've still got Jordy, Raji, Hawk, Burnett and Lacy. I also have read that Clay may be back at practices this week. Aaron's a big loss but we still have a chance.
