Johnny Manziel to enter NFL draft

Johnny Manziel will enter the 2014 NFL draft, forgoing his final two seasons of eligibility at Texas A&M, ESPN has confirmed.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner filed the official paperwork to declaring himself eligible for the draft on Wednesday.

Manziel's decision was reported earlier Wednesday by NFL Network.

Widely projected as a first-round draft selection, Manziel is coming off his second productive season as the Aggies' quarterback. He threw for 7,820 yards and 63 touchdowns while rushing for 2,169 yards and 30 more scores over his two-year career at Texas A&M.

So who takes him? Top picks, barring a trade:

1. Houston Texans
2. St. Louis Rams (via Washington Redskins)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars
4. Cleveland Browns
5. Oakland Raiders
6. Atlanta Falcons
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
8. Minnesota Vikings
9. Buffalo Bills
10. Detroit Lions

Texans? Browns? Raiders? Jags?

Although if he slips to 4th, there's no way Cleveland can pass up this future train wreck. I think there are places where MAYBE he could be successful, but I don't see that happening on a team that drafts him and expects him to start in year one.

He's a lot of fun to watch, but I don't think he'll make it in the NFL. Way to short..... JMHO.

I loathe Johnny Football and he is on the small side. About the size of Russell Wilson (Badger - now plays for Seattle) or Drew Brees. Someone that size can play if they have a great arm. Trumad thinks he will be ok. I think the position of QB in the NFL is a hard one to walk into. The problem for Manziel is that if he plays for the Texans he and Case are about the same size so he may end up as starter. That could be hard for him as a young starter with no one to mentor him.

Even Aaron Rodgers had a few years behind Brett Favre to learn the game and that worked quite well for the Packers.

I don't mean religiously, but in terms of him being overhyped and underripe.

The Snyder/Allen/Gruden brain trust will trade RGIII and the 1st round picks in 2015 & 2016 to the Jag's and will take Johnny Football with the third pick.

El Supremo will then become a Washington DC NFL fan!!

(I spoke with a Washington DC football fan earlier today, and he brought up the idea of a trade of draft picks to the Jags for RGIII. After reading your thread, I now get it!!! Cousins and Manziel as your starters.)
