Richard Sherman fined for taunting...http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2013/story/_/id/10346713/richard-sherman-seattle-seahawks-fined-7875-taunting-nfc-championship-game
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was fined $7,875 for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting in the final minute of the NFC Championship Game against San Francisco. Sherman's fine was confirmed by the league Friday. Sherman was flagged after he made a choking gesture toward the San Francisco bench that he said was directed at quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Sherman had just deflected a pass intended for Michael Crabtree in the end zone that was intercepted by linebacker Malcolm Smith and clinched Seattle's 23-17 victory. Sherman ran over and after tapping Crabtree on the backside and extended his hand for a handshake. Crabtree then shoved Sherman in the face. The All-Pro cornerback then made the choking gesture. Sherman was the only player fined in the game. Hmm..I guess the NFL didn't get the message that according to some, Sherman is now a wise philosopher and an expert in coded racial slurs..

1. Well...
Hopefully they'll soon get around to fining the shit face that clotheslined Jeremy Lane on the sidelines as well.

2. I think they're going to..
49ers just haven't heard from the NFL yet. Strange no penalty was called because I saw it on TV..

3. You know
It is possible to be a loud mouth obnoxious trash talker AND be observant about society issues . I suspect with a 3.7 GPA from Stanford he might be smarter than you. Oh wait, he's from Compton, that's not possible.

5. You know..
Sherman is great at playing the victim..even went so far as to invoke MLK day to justify and deflect away his actions. He did apologize, called his post game rant 'immature'. The smart thing to do would be to have simply left it at that.

6. Yup, poor Little Richie, everyone's so mean to him....
Let's just ignore his history of pulling this shit, let's just ignore his failed drug tests. He played the victim card and lots of people lapped it up.

9. Actually. Quite the opposite. I'm torn between wanting to see Manning shut down
the Eli is better talk and wanting to see the Seahawks take it.

7. Slap on the wrist. Other players will take care of Sherman if the NFL doesn’t.
If Hines Ward was still playing he'd break this fuckers jaw

11. Nobody's likely to punch his mouth shut
He's already shown that he'll run his mouth, ask for it, get it and keep talking...
But I think his basic point about the word "thug" still stands, no matter how self-serving. He got fined for being an asshole, but that doesn't make him a thug. A dictionary thug is violent; Sherman is confrontational and arrogant, but I've seen no evidence that he's been gratuitously violent (he does play football, after all, so there's some necessary violence). Were he white he'd be called "brash," "arrogant," possible "classless" but certainly not a "thug" just for running his mouth! |

12. He put a target on his back when he screamed to the world that he's better than everybody else
Everybody is rooting against the Seachickens now - it'll be fun to see what he says when they lose

13. Be interesting if he has another great game and they win.
What will everyone else say then? Or are we pretending he isn't one of the best corners in the league?
