Mattingly: If Braun is suspended, NL MVP award should go to Kemp

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly hopes Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun wins his appeal for testing positive for a banned substance. However, Mattingly says Braun should be stripped of his NL MVP honors if his 50-game suspension is upheld.

Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp finished second in the voting.

"It's not 10 years later," Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times, referring to Braun’s positive test in October and acceptance of the MVP honors in November. "It's a month later."

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America, which votes for the MVP, already has announced it will not hold a revote or take the honor away from Braun. ..............(more)
