(39,370 posts)That offsides call was bogus. The game never should have made it to extra time but here we are.

(2,030 posts)The Dutch looked from the opening whistle like they were playing for penalties.

(78,249 posts)so they couldn't get the taller keeper in there like they did against Costa Rica.
I guess Germany scored all the goals. There were no more goals left to be scored.

(22,340 posts)First of all, we probably aren't going to ever see another semi-final game like the Germany one.
But both Argentina and the Dutch were technically incredible shutting down the other's threats. Both teams have fantastic counters and neither team wanted to give that to the other. Both teams, then, were waiting for the other to make a mistake--which neither really did.
Sure, it wasn't the scoring fest that will never happen again, but it was a great soccer match.

(39,370 posts)Germany/Brazil was totally over in 30 minutes and one side didn't show up (as Scolari said, they blacked out). By the fourth goal, it felt like rubber-necking. You will never see four goals in six minutes at a World Cup semi-final again and that's a good thing. Mascherano's game-saving tackle on Robben may not have been highlight-reel stuff but at least it was characteristic of a game that was being played with skill and intensity to the 120th minute.

And Ron Vlaar was putting on a full-back clinic.
