KUSA - The NFL is reportedly investigating whether the New England Patriots deflated game balls during their 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. League spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed the investigation to USA TODAY Sports.

Bob Kravitz from WTHR-TV in Indianapolis reported Sunday night that officials took a ball out of play at one point and weighed it.

A deflated football is easier to throw and catch in poor weather conditions.

NFL footballs are required to be inflated with 12.5-13.5 pounds of air, and home teams must give all game balls to the league two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff to be inspected.

Kravitz was told if the league finds that the Patriots did use deflated footballs, it would result in lost draft picks for the Patriots.

4. If found to be true

I think Belichick should be banned from the league in light of illegally taping other teams. Because if true, he's proven that losing a draft pick and being fined isn't sufficient to deter him from cheating.

That said, I also think teams like Seattle who have had many players suspended for performance enhancing drug use also need to be held accountable, and no a 4 game suspension doesn't count.

Personally, I'm rooting for both teams to lose the Super Bowl since neither of them is a deserving winner.
