Ronda Rousey Inspiring Young Girls to Beat the Shit Out of People
UFC star Ronda Rousey is 11-0-0 in her dominant career, capped by a 14-second defeat of Cat Zigano at UFC 184. But it’s her impact outside of the octagon that is drawing the most attention.
“She become a role model for a lot of young girls out there,” said Dale Williams, principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Glendale, Calif., Rousey’s hometown. “I’d say that most of the girls we have in detention at the end of school every day are girls who tried to beat people up like their hero. It’s quite a phenomenon.”
Throughout most of history, only aggressive young boys with anger issues have had role models to look up to for their bludgeoning dreams. But with Rousey’s arrival on the scene as a national star, now girls can aspire to kick and punch people in the face, too.
“I want to choke people out and make them bleed everywhere,” said little Charlotte Riley, a 5 year-old Las Vegas kindergartner. “I am only at my happiest when other people are in pain. I love Ronda Rousey,” added Charlotte, illustrating her point by stabbing a classmate in the arm with kid scissors.
Charlotte’s teacher, Miss Roundtree, says she is a little bit conflicted about Rousey phenomenon.
“I think it’s great any time girls have a role model, but I wish it wasn’t such a violent role model,” said Miss Rountree. “That said, the girls the Rousey fans usually beat up are the girls who sing ‘Frozen’ songs all the time, and I can’t say I’m too upset about that. I can’t take ‘Let It Go’ one more time.”
Rousey said she is honored to have little girls look up to her.
“I didn’t have anyone like that when I was growing up, and I hope a lot of these girls get into UFC,” she said. “But these little girls should know that if they do one day join UFC, I’ll be waiting to break them in half. I will end those little bitches.”
