Ethics of destroying a fantasy football league

This past year was my second playing fantasy. I joined my now old boss' (we still work together, just on different teams) league like I did last year. I had a great draft and played the wire well and pulled off an amazing run through the playoffs to win (playoff wins of 6, 3 and 9).

I did rather poorly in my first year but I paid my dues and it went to the winner of the league.

So I've been sitting for a few months waiting for my payout and my old boss (who I still work with, occasionally on the same project) has been putting me off about payment.

He told me when I won that I needed to send a message to the league (which is made up mostly of his family and friends) with my home address so that they can each send me a check. I told him that I wasn't comfortable with that and since he's married to one of the members and sees the rest (save for one other coworker who paid me) often that he should collect the money and give it to me, or just pay me himself and collect the money from his wife, brother in law, father in law and friends.

So I finally sent a message last week to the league with my Paypal address requesting dues; no one has paid.

So I emailed the GM (my old boss) letting him know that no one has paid, including him and he told me to piss off. He said, "we don't take this seriously. If you want something serious go join another league."

My initial reaction was to never play in his league again! But I know he won't give a fuck whether I play or not.

That won't get me my money either.

So I've started to seethe and plot my revenge (without harming our working relationship too much - we're actually friends as well so this is a tough bit for me).

I've decided to just suck it up and join his league again next year... and destroy it.

My main plan is to destroy the draft. I will draft nothing but quarterbacks up until I'm capped at 4. Draft Rodgers, Luck, Brees, Manning. I should be able to grab 3 of the top 4 QBs before anyone picks up on it and completely alters their draft strategy to overdraft QBs.

Once I hit round 5 (assuming I get locked out of drafting QBs - if not, I'll keep drafting QBs) I'll move onto another position to destroy the league. I was thinking TE's at this point.

In addition to my draft strategy I will place all of these players in my queue and take the entire length of my allotted time for every single pick (a huge pet peeve of the GM).

The GM will lose his mind about round 4 but I'll just let him know I'm not taking it seriously as is custom in his league.

From there I'm not sure how to fuck up the league. I figure I will check out like the GM's brother in law does about week 3 and give free wins away, as well as give away players to certain teams. But I will go all in to beat the GM.

I have about 7 months to plot and scheme. This may be petty but fuck that - I paid my lost bet last year and I'm due my winnings this year.

The title of this OP isn't accurate - I'm doing this regardless of the ethics of it. I'm just looking for more suggestions to fuck up this league.

What would destroy a league?

Any way you can check with last year's winner to see if anyone else paid them? trotsky Mar 2015 #2

I have not played fantasy football in more than a decade; however, the league that I played in required the players to put their money up front (finally, they relented and gave people a few weeks until the next paycheck). Money for trades was due like after the 10th week so that people wouldn't pull that type of BS. If your money wasn't in by the due dates then you weren't allowed to advance into the playoffs and you were not invited to participate the following year.

I don't know how you can collect the money that is due to you, but if you don't receive the money by next season then you have every right to screw the rest of the league the following year. If the GM does not do anything to straighten out the situation you should also inform any new people that join your league that the GM and members of the family are not trustworthy as far as paying off their gambling debts. I certainly would not feel obligated to pay anything to whomever wins the league next year.

and near the end of the season the GM sent out a message calling out the people who still hadn't paid.

So I assume a good chunk paid last year.

That's what I'd do.

Of course, if I was commissioner of your league, I'd've just paid you out of my pocket and then gone and cracked some skulls on a "Where's My Fucking Money?" tour of my fellow team owners.

He doesn't lock out the people who don't set their lineups.

If I set my lineup at all I may go the full back up and retired players route.
