Related: About this forumTiger makes it to Moving Day at the Masters!
It has been said, possibly by Mark Twain, that golf is "a pleasant walk ruined."
On what would be the weekend story of the remarkable return of the legendary Tiger Woods, Spieth shatters records for 2 days and Tiger is a footnote.
We'll see, the gods of golf are fickle in the long run. Maybe Tiger is working his way out of the desert? 5 more majors to secure his status as greatest golfer of all time.
CBS picks up coverage this afternoon. Until then, the Masters will be live streamed again today. There are lots of complaints about how the Master tournament avoids televising the complete rounds of the best golfers in the world.
Todays schedule at www.masters.com! Tiger and his good friend Sergio Garcia tee up at (all times Eastern) 1:15. Spieth and Hoffman, last pairing, 2:15. Pair to watch - Bubba Watson and Rory McIlroy just ahead of Tiger.
Featured Groups streaming today include "Featured Group 1 Watson/McIlroy" @ 2:30 and "Featured Group 2 Woods/Garcia" @ 3:00, beginning streaming each group when the previous featured group completes their round. Spieth/Hoffman will be featured last, probably @ 4:00.
CBS coverage begins at 3:00, 2:00 CT.

(16,104 posts)I never watched golf until he started playing. It was too boring, genteel, white elitist. I didn't know what a Major was, or a Grand Slam. I thought Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus were car salesman. I had no idea what they had accomplished. I did live in Texas, and remember when Lee Trevino was big news, but no world shaker.
Tiger transformed the game. He managed to make it an in-your-face contact sport somehow. Really big money and really big crowds followed. Youth were inspired to take up the game. The stock market used to have "The Tiger Bounce" every Monday after he would win. And he won and dominated the competition, and most of them appreciated what he did, including the old-timers. It was marvelous to see this excellence, quality and drive in an athlete, both amateur and professional.
There are other great athletes, like Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, who excel and dominate in their sport.
But Tiger Woods changed golf forever. I can't think of anyone else who did anything like this.
And now a chance for an epic redemption story after an epic fall?

He is divorced, and I would venture to say his ex-wife is still very, very happy$.
Phenomenal skier Lindsay Vonn seems to be very happy with him and his children.
That is all part of his great fall which destroys so many celebrities/athletes, and would be part of his redemption story, if...

That's 7-under for the tournament.

(29,612 posts)Love them......and not sure how I feel about Tiger.....everyone deserves to be happy. He's sure paid the price through all this. He lost his mojo, most of his sponsors, and his golf game has just been horrible.....if he's happy and has made peace with his x-wife, then who am I to judge him. I always root for the Irish anyway.....

(16,104 posts)Finishes 6-under for tournament. Lost the fire after the non-sports related criticism - bad karma!
He must be checking DU posts on the course. 7 years in affluent wealthy hell aren't enough? (Not counting Vonn)
Back Sunday!!!
