http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25457113/with-12-draft-picks-chip-kellys-49ers-could-reload-quicklyFortunately for the 49ers, with 12 draft picks in 2016 and potentially significant cap room to attack free agency, change could be coming soon....
"I think we're receptive to anything that's going to help us win football games," Kelly said when asked if he'd run an up-tempo offense similar to what he's used before. "And I know the difficulty that what we do offensively gives to defenses. We'll look at anything. There's always tweaks that you do, and we ran it differently in year two than we did in year one. We ran it differently in year three than we did in year two, and when we get a new staff together here, it'll be a collaborative effort....
The strength of the 2016 NFL draft lies with the defensive linemen, and given the explosive offenses in Seattle and NFC West division-winner Arizona, it would certainly make sense for San Francisco to continue the rebuilding of a front much different than the one Justin Smith and Aldon Smith starred in just a few years ago.
Well, I hope you've enjoyed yourselves the last couple of years, h8rs.

(49,533 posts)I mean the Browns had 12 picks last year, and 11 in 2012, and look at the powerhouse they became.

2014 record 8-8 (12 draft picks)
2015 record 5-11 (10 draft picks)
They've had 33 draft picks (not counting this year's draft) in the last 3 drafts and have only gotten worse. I don't think their management knows how to "reload".

(31,163 posts)The GM has been focused on "drafting/signing big" based on advice from Bill Parcells. Hasn't exactly worked out too well, though I'd give him a one-year mulligan considering all the retirements prior to this season. 2016 is the last year to prove himself IMO.

(5,252 posts)1. Never overdraft a WR. You can find a solid WR from 2nd round down to UFA
-Some GMs already know this. Others want to put butts in seats. I flipped my shit when the Bears took Kevin White at #7. Which leads to #2
2. Best Player Available should be your last option.
-Bears took White at #7 because he was on everyone's board as BPA at that spot. WFCs what idiotic teams like Atlanta or Detroit would do if they were at this spot. Not only did the Bears have the worst defense 2 years running, they changed their system from 4-3 to 3-4. They also changed their offense from pass first to based on the run.
Looking forward to seeing what our very young GM does this year with #11. Needs: OLB, DL, OT, ILB, S

(5,252 posts)because they all say you have to take the Best Player Available. Our rookie GM didn't want to earn his paycheck with his first ever pick.
