Related: About this forumBartolo Colon last man standing for Montreal Expos
http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_29595305/bartolo-colon-last-man-standing-montreal-exposThe only thing standing between the Montreal Expos and extinction at the major league level is 42-year-old Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon.
Colon is the last player to have played for Montreal, which moved to Washington following the 2005 season to become the Nationals, according to USA Today. Expos in the bigs were on life support anyway, given the fact that Cesar Izturis hadn't played since 2014 but was still on the roster of the Toronto Blue Jays.
But Izturis officially retired Thursday. Another former former Montreal player, pitcher Bruce Chen, retired after making two starts for Cleveland last season.
Colon arrived in Montreal under dubious circumstances. With the league threatening to contract the team, or simply eliminate it, Montreal general manager Omar Minaya traded away a package of players that included future All-Stars Cliff Lee, Brandon Phillips and Grady Sizemore.
