Nadal considering legal action over Bachelot comments

This one's for you, Joey!

Rafael Nadal is considering legal action against Roselyne Bachelot after the former French secretary of sport claimed the 14-time grand slam champion had failed a doping test.

This week, in the wake of Maria Sharapova's positive test for meldonium, Bachelot told French TV show Le Grand 8 a lengthy lay-off for the Spaniard in 2012 was "without any doubt because he tested positive" and not due to injury....

"I'm surprised anyway when people in the street say it, but for a former official to say it seems incredible to me," Toni Nadal told RAC1.

"I don't know what motives this lady has in saying this, but it's obvious that she does not know tennis or the sport world.

have also suspected it for many reasons. I figured if they tested Maria they must have tested others and he must have been clean at that point. I don't know their testing policies but have been led to believe they are not commonly done?

I can easily see the tennis authorities hushing up something for a top player...don't want to lose your top players because interest in the sport will decline.

It makes it that much harder for those that actually earn it without the drugs. I used to think tennis was different. I am not sure why I thought that but I did. 😠

But I do think doping is a new phenomenon in tennis...it's all about power now, no finesse. Drugs don't help with accuracy or touch, but it does if you're just slamming the ball back and forth.
