(16,858 posts)One has to wonder if Jordan would have had the same impact had Magic never been diagnosed with HIV and Bird's back had held up, not to mention the what ifs surrounding Len Bias.

(65,000 posts)By his third season, Jordan was already the second most recognized athlete in the world, behind only Ali. His shear presence did that, and btw, the Bulls beat the Lakers in 5 BEFORE Magic was diagnosed. Also, by the time Bird's back became a serious issue, Pippen and Grant had matured and it was no longer the Jordan show, but the "Bulls starring Michael Jordan".
Since i was actually in my 30's during that era, i don't need a documentarian's lens to have an opinion on how things occurred. I was watching as they occurred.

(25,848 posts)One of my favorites is "The Four Falls of Buffalo" The other is "Of Miracles and Men" which tells the story of the 1980 American hockey victory in the Olympics from the Soviet point of view. Totally amazing.
