Ezekiel Elliott suspended 6 games under NFL's personal conduct policy

Hopefully he gets the message.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been suspended six games by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy, the league announced Friday.

The suspension comes as a result of an investigation that started more than a year ago after an ex-girlfriend accused Elliott of domestic violence in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus City Attorney's office announced in September that it would not pursue charges against Elliott because of "conflicting and inconsistent information," but the NFL can penalize a player even without legal charges.

Elliott is expected to appeal the suspension, league sources told Schefter.

Elliott has three business days to file notice of appeal, and a hearing must be scheduled within 10 days of receipt of the notice, according to Article 46 of the collective bargaining agreement, which governs appeal of commissioner discipline.

the NFL will forgive him for anything -- and possibly pay off his victims -- as long as he keeps delivering on the field.

He's the NFL 2017 season's first candidate for my Next Aaron Hernandez award.

What did the investigation learn that was different from the city prosecutor's decision to not file charges.

I'm not surprised he is appealing.

As far as messages go I'm not even sure what the message is considering there were no charges.

he has made a series of bad choices that have put him in shady situations. There's too much there to be coincidence, IMO. I'm guessing the suspension will be reduced upon appeal but the message is being sent that he better straighten out his act before he goes off the rails.

No guarantee this helps, but it's better than the league repeatedly looking the other way when an up-and-coming star is showing an inclination to jeopardize his career for foolish pursuits.
