Ohio State football: Urban Meyer to retire after Rose Bowl

The Urban Meyer era at Ohio State is coming to an end.

The school sent a news release announcing a Tuesday afternoon news conference where Meyer will formally announce his intention to retire after the Rose Bowl against Washington.

In the release, the program stated that OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith would announce current offensive coordinator Ryan Day as the 25th head coach, beginning Jan. 2.

Meyer was suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season for how he handled former receivers coach Zach Smith. Smith's ex-wife had previously accused Smith of domestic violence.
