Thought for sure he would kick for the tie. Every other coach in the league probably would have.
irresistable

(17,862 posts)is the smart play. They had momentum, and the KC defense was looking confused. A tie does them no good so it was the percentage play.

(64,852 posts)I could probably couldn't throw the ball 40 mph and there still wouldn't have been time for the DB's to recover.
When that guy caught the pass there was nobody within 25 feet.

(9,895 posts)I am going on record to predict NONE OF THEM make it to San Francisco for SB LII in February...wiht only New Orleans having a better than even money shot IMO...
Offense is all fine and well, but balanced teams in the playoffs are going to fair better overall and if you must be slanted towards one side of the ball versus the other, in the playoffs, defensive teams fare far better overall. Offense still sells tickets...and defense still wins championships, period.
KC by all rights should be riding a 2 game losing streak today, as Baltimore controlled them for much of the game last Sunday as well...The Chiefs are in more trouble than people want to talk about because of the loss of Hunt as well. They are going to flame out in the playoffs for sure.
The Rams are also in a fair amount of trouble. Their roster is incredibly thin across key areas and getting worse by the week. Goff is regressing after a very impressive first 20 games under McVay. His play has been very weak over the last month and Chicago exposed him as a QB utterly befuddled by pressure. All QBs are worse under duress, but some are veritable houses of cards and fold up where others steady and survive - Goff is no Roethlisberger or Brady under duress, that is clear...L.A. may get a super bowl team, but it is more likely to be the Chargers than the Rams...
New Orleans has the best chance of surviving their imbalance because the Dome offers an enormous home field advantage and can lift them up just enough to survive. Add in the experience of Drew Brees and his desire to win a second title to validate his status as a top-10, top-5 QB of the era (and an all-timer), and I could see the Saints making my prediction go bust...

(17,862 posts)Those other two teams do not. My money is on the Saints out of the NFC.
Of course it will be the Patriots out of the AFC. KC could very well end up a wild card team playing the Steelers or Ravens at their home.
I see a rematch with the Bears and Rams - this time in LA.

(9,895 posts)KC's "D" is really not good this year at all. They have some decent pass rushers, but their DBs and LBs are subpar for sure this year. Playoffs this year could be very interesting and bst in years depending on the match-ups...but there are some really attractive potential games for sure.

(64,852 posts)Three DB's cover one guy and they leave the hottest receiver the whole game so open that it was impossible for any NFL QB to miss him!
That's some crappy defense.

(36,375 posts)but in the bigger scheme of things, the Chargers had better than 50% of pulling it off, and lower then 50% chance of winning if it went into overtime.
Gutsy call, for sure, but at the end of the day you need to trust the numbers.
