1. College Hockey is an amazing game.

Just saw a forward for NE make an insane stick deflection....behind the goalie. Whoa.

18/22 YO's who can play the game are awesome to watch. The best athlete's conditioning wise /full body wise / actually energy expended of all the major sports.

Like all sports, the point is scoring more points than your competitor.

But, it is incredibly difficult to score points. Because, speed, sticks,cut-offs, kicks, and reactions.

It's not like having your feet anchored to ground and the resultant gravity. You got people moving upwards of 30-35 MPH on 1/4" width of surface contact. And handling a 4" diameter pc of hard rubber. And snaking/deflecting this slug through a 1/2 dozen people clogging the net.

Don't get me started on goalies. The great ones are otherworldly in their anticipation and reaction to where the slug is going.....at upwards of 90 MPH.

2. God I miss the Beanpot.

3. Very good marketing going on with the Beanpot.

I'm betting it expands to the top 8 (Hockey East Teams). Not HE sanctioned, but 8 teams playing the Beanpot. Makes total sense....there are at least 4 more teams in NE that should be part of this tourney. And it would be great marketing/advertising.

There is another thread tonight in primaries where Bernie is in Durham, NH for a rally w The Strokes. It is clearly at UNH/Whittemore and it made me immediately think of all the UNH Hockey games I went to there; and then I realized it's about Beanpot time...low and behold, this post.

I moved back to Denver last year so I'm lucky, DU is solid on the ice.

What we really should have is a NE Championship. But what we really need and want is a New England Championship - the best team from each state (plus 2 best in class to crown the best state team in NE. The best in Maine, NH,VT ,CT,RI,MA should have a real NE Championship with 2vmore drawn in lottery..
