The move follows the NBAs suspension Wednesday night after one of its players, Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert, tested positive for COVID-19. His teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positive Thursday morning.
MLS will take the time to fully assess the situation, per Paul Tenorio of The Athletic. The season began less than two weeks ago. The league will reportedly reschedule matches at the end of the season in late September and October, per Steven Goff of Soccer Insider. Mas said the league plans to play all 34 regular season games.

The Seattle Sounders are among the teams that were already impacted by government mandates limited large gatherings. They faced holding games without fans but instead on Wednesday, MLS decided to postpone games in Seattle and San Jose. The league also mandated that players, coaches and essential staff travel via charter, rather than the regular commercial, for the foreseeable future.
