Pitching from the stretch with no runners on

should be outlawed. I was watching LA- SF last night and both starting pitchers did it. Talk about slowing down a game.

1. I would think that would favor the hitters.....and thus prolong the game even longer.

2. It adds velocity to the pitch

Why would it favor the hitter?

Edit: it also makes it harder for the hitter to see the ball as it leaves the pitcher’s hand, thus making it tougher to know what pitch is coming.

3. How?

Not getting the physics of getting more velocity from the stretch.
Also, how does the stretch make it harder to see the ball? Given the arm movement & turn with a wind-up, I'd think the opposite would be true.
I've delved pretty deeply into the physics of certain sports actions (shooting a basketball, getting ideal transfer of momentum from a golf club to the ball, et al) but, I'm not seeing the physics behind your claim.
Why do you think this?
