So, Who Had The Under?

I'm really surprised at the total for yesterday's games.
Two games, 58 points! That's 10 points under the league average FOR ALL FOUR TEAMS!
If somebody saw this coming, I'm impressed!
I thought the Titans/Bengals game might be a shootout. So, much for that!

On the 4th down run the defense was on him in the backfield, not much could be done. dem4decades Jan 2022 #2

And continued to go with Foreman he had more yards as Henry with 4 carries vs. 20. He has been doing well while Henry is out. Henry will get back, but the 4th down run and the 2 pt conversion run showed that he isn't there yet.

The teams that stayed in their groove won last night. That Mitchell guy from SF - man he was fun to watch. At full strength and in playing mode Henry is a beast but Tennessee changed up what was working for them and it cost them. Three interceptions didn’t help either.

and these are higher-seeded, playoff-quality defenses.

I took the 49ers to cover. Never expected them to win. Spread favored the Packers by six -- a lot to give IMO.

I thought Tennessee would roll over Cincy. WRONG!

...both teams have played in bad weather before. Geez, Garapolo grew up in the Chicago suburbs, went to college in Illinois, and played in Boston for 5 years. He knows what winter is.
It was cold, and there was some wind, but it wasn't a hurricane. I'm still surprised the score was that low.
As to the defenses, there's no argument, but none of these teams are the '85 Bears or 2012 Ravens Good defenses, sure. Great defenses? I don't think so.

7. One explanation for Rodgers play from the San Francisco Chronicle:

“We were disguising (coverages) really well,” said 49ers free safety Jimmie Ward. “And we confused him (Rodgers).”

SNIP

Rodgers, 38, is a 17-year veteran who was making is 228th career start. Did the 49es really flummox him?

“I think the only way you can know for sure is to ask Aaron,” (49ers linebacker) Warner said.

“They did a good job of kind of getting me off the spot and a better job of taking away some of the quick game that we got going the last time we played them,” Rodgers said. “… They had a good plan, for sure. It was more of the pass rush. The pass rush was formidable.”

As for the 49ers, I think the Packers effectively shut down the 49ers running game, forcing Garoppola, with injured hand and shoulder, to throw. It worked.

Good games plans limited both offenses.
