Had a mid life crises a couple of years ago

Spent a couple of years researching vehicles, loved the CTS-V and Z06, but they were a over what I was willing to spend. When the latest generation Camaro came out with the ZL1 it got my attention. Then I saw this video:

4. Sorry to say, but had to get the 10-speed auto. Husband doesn't have a clue how to drive a stick.

Wasn’t going to teach him how to use a stick with this car.

The auto is pretty sweet. Once you punch it into the performance shift mode, the tranny will keep rpms up much higher, and automatically downshift as you slow down into a corner.

Went to a couple of local dealers in Indianapolis, they would not budge off MSRP. Walked out, no deal. Ended up finding a dealer in Arlington TX who was willing to take off $10k. So we grabbed a couple of one way tickets down. Dealer met us at the airport. He had most of the paperwork done, in 2-3 hours we were on our way back home.

What is the black square in the middle of the hood?

Does it seat two or four people?

Love the wheels.

7. The center hood cutout (black)

Is functional, allows air to escape to assist cooling.

Seats two normal folks up front, two children in back. I’ve sat in back when others were driving, you cannot sit without your head tilting over 45 degrees to avoid the roof. LOL, I’m rarely in the back.

The car is basically a six generation Camaro, based on the alpha platform. It appears more than capable of handling the 650 HP attached in the ZL1. The fact it could be obtained for under $60k makes it a steal IMO.

8. All that horse power makes it pretty darn zippy I bet.

Also makes the engine hot, that is why you need the cutout on the hood.

Oh that is more practical with room in the back if you need it for kids or packages.
Yes doesn't sound like a tall adult would sit in the back for any length of time.
But this type of vehicle was not purchased for hauling people.

The white color makes the car really stand out.
Beautiful car.

9. It moves right along

Really got on it (once) on the trip back from Texas. Got stuck behind a truck passing another truck in rural TX. Was doing 60-65. Once the way cleared, floored it. Several seconds later it was going 135, time to shut down. Surprisingly, it got 20 to 21 mpg overall on the trip back to Indy.

It is daily driven, has 25,000 miles. I still have my license, last speeding ticket was in ‘96.

Our other car is a Toyota Prius.

10. OMG

65 mph to 135 in seconds. That is amazing.

Once my car was in the shop and friends loaned me their Lexus for a day.

I got in the car, turned it on and stepped on the gas to go on my way and was half way down the street before I even knew what happened. Scared the bejabbers out of me. So I decided then I don't like zippy cars. But it is nice I admit when you have to get out of the way of a truck.

Oh you drive it everyday, that is good. I was thinking maybe it was just a weekend car. LOL on keeping your license. I wondered about that since it gets up to 135mph. Good on you.

I have a Honda CRV. Had Toyotas for years, but they are a rough ride and more designed for men I think.
The Hondas have really come a long way and are a poor man's Lexus I think. They are more designed with features and comfort for women. Especially older women and women with children.

I bought my daughter a Honda CRV for her graduation with a master's degree. She is a nurse practitioner and has to drive to the hospital at all hours and in all kinds of weather. So I wanted her to be safe. The CRV has all the latest safety features and even when the road is a wall of water, the automatic brakes go on and slow the vehicle down.

Eventually she wants to get a Prius like you have.
