I used to follow the Cubs. I see they have quite a team this year..but the question has nothing to do with their terrific team.. It is about the upcoming World Series...

Is it true, that they, (whoever gets there) could be playing the World Series as late Nov 2nd?......

1. You heard correctly ... November 2nd

Blame ESPN, FOX, TBS and MLB.

ESPN dictates the season begins on a Sunday night so they can broadcast the first game of the major league season. Usuallly the season would begin on March 31st or April 1st. This year it started on April 3rd.

Postseason is delayed one or two days since the addition of the second wildcard team -- it adds an extra day and a day or two of travel time.

Additionally, the postseason is scheduled to maximize weekend ratings for FOX, ESPN and TBS.

MLB is especially to blame for allowing all this happen.

Don't be surprised if, one of these days, a game is called on account of snow. Could happen in Chicago or Cleveland.

4. MLB might choose a domed stadium

somewhere to have the ball game. Its been done with the NFL. Don't be surprised if your team has to fly to some city not involved in the game, just to use a domed stadium.

but hey, eventually all sports playoffs will be Pay-per-view, like Boxing matches. You want to see the World Series? Great, sign up for a 30 dollar per game package, and see the game before anyone else does. Regular people who can't afford it will have to wait a few weeks for the outcome or read it in the newspaper, with no highlight films. (Sorry, property of the Pay-per-view company!)

2. Yes it is true

if you are old like me you remember before the original expansion, the season was 154 games long. It should go back to that and it would allow the season to end in October. In 1968, the last year of MLB before playoffs, they were already playing the WS by this time. Now we have 3 sets of games to go through before we know who goes to the series..........

And it's pretty sad when the Stanley Cup playoffs are wrapping up in June, sometimes in American cities that are under summer conditions and the last thing on anybody's mind is sitting in a chilly arena.
