Twins angry after Orioles bunt against shift in 9th

The Minnesota Twins were quite aggrieved Sunday after a Baltimore Orioles player bunted against the shift trailing by seven in the ninth inning.

With one out in the ninth and nobody on in a 7-0 game, Baltimore catcher Chance Sisco laid down a bunt against the shifted Twins defense, allowing him to reach base with a single. The Orioles had just one hit before the Sisco bunt, but ended up loading the bases before Minnesota shut things down for the win and that seemed to be that.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. They shifted on him, why not bunt against that. If it were a no-hitter, I'd have a different opinion.

1. I agree. Even if it were a no hitter. Maybe even especially if it were.

If I'm a player, I'm not going to let a pitcher no hit me or my team. Sorry. I played through college, not going to happen if I can help it. My team mates would all feel the same way. They shift on me to take away my hit, I shift on them to get one.

They play to win and definitely to not get beat.

2. Baseball is a game of strategy. That bunt was slap back at the shift.

3. The "unwritten rule" thing gets taken too far.

I kind of get the supposed "rules" about how to play when your team is way ahead (although large comebacks do happen), but I don't see a problem here. If your Showalter, to start with trying to get one run and chip away from there, even if it's the ninth inning. This all seems like a lot of nothing.

4. Who cares? They won the game!

Why is the shift on in the bottom of the ninth with a seven run lead? As a Twins fan I think they should be more concerned with the strikeouts of Sano, Morrison and Buxton.
