Electrified bicycles

My wife and I are looking at either a powered wheel hub
to retrofit our current comfort bikes or all new bikes.

Any recommendations for hubs or bikes?

1. I have two electric bikes,

or rather one electric bike and one electric trike.

For the bike I used an economy 250W "hilltopper". It's an excellent front hub motor and I'm very happy with it. It comes complete with motor and battery.

For the trike, a Schwinn Meridian, with a heavy homemade cargo box on the back, I used the more powerful "AW" 1000W front hub from Amazon. I'm also very happy with that. It does NOT come with the battery so you would need a separate battery. It has great acceleration, and has a top speed of 20 MPH, which on my trike is scary fast. I usually make my grocery store trips at 12 to 14 MPH, and that's plenty for me.

2. I picked up a conversion kit a while ago...

From http://www.ebikes.ca/ I got the direct drive model, but I would recommend going for a geared hub motor. You lose out on the regeneration, but the geared motors are a lot smaller and lighter, and there's no drag when coasting. With the conversion kit, it was pretty straightforward to retrofit an existing bike.

3. I took a quick spin on a coworkers Sondor ebike last year.

It was first generation model and it was very impressive. I've heard the latest model is even better.

4. I have an A2B Ferber electric bike

And....

I love it! I don't always keep the motor on but when I need to climb a steep hill I can flip it on and go. I could not be happier.
